Favourite Sweater Mug

You know THAT sweater? The one that you immediately reach for when you get home from work. The one that you’ve worn for years and has survived pit fires at the beach, 7 cycles of winter and multiple coffee stains? The sweater with the thick drawstring that you play with when your deep in thought? This is that sweater.

This Sweater contains a secret note. Bended and folded you can only guess the ending. I made this with the intention that one day when you need it the most, on the worst kind of day, you accidentally drop the note, breaking it, finally able to read the hidden part. Meant for the perfect time and day, when you just really need it.

 I created these mugs with the bends and shapes of a sweater that has been thrown on the floor for the millionth time. Some have patched holes from wear and tear, some are missing buttons. Some have worn name tags that have been torn off and stuck back on multiple times because you decided to wear your favourite sweater to an event that you didn’t want to attend, or just didn't like having to wear a name tag in the first place. But with these name tags you get to say how you actually feel.

The porcelain I use to create this piece is one of the purest and most expensive clay bodies available. It is of higher quality then your grandmothers fine china that she only takes out when she has company.

The porcelain used in my wares is vegan bone china. While regular bone china is actually derived from calcined animal bones, the porcelain used in my pieces substitutes the animal bone with volcanic ash, which creates the same properties as the animal bones without the ethical component. While still creating a pure white, translucent strong clay body. Each Sweater is uniquely its own, in color, shape and design.
